How to Create a Dropdown WordPress Menu without Using Code

Need a new WordPress Menu but don’t know how to code it?

Many people encounter a problem with WordPress with the inability to use the WordPress menu administration area to easily add a dropdown list of categories to the main menu.
The menu system provides a way to add categories to a menu, but it doesn’t contain a way to easily create a drop down list of categories. There is an easy work around that accomplishes the goal without using any code.

  1. Start by browsing to Appearance – Menus. Select the menu where you want the link displayed. Create a new Link menu item and use # as the URL with the link text of categories. Then click the Add to Menu button.

2. Select which categories you want to be displayed in the drop down. After you add the categories to the menu, drag and drop them so that they are a child link under the parent menu of categories.

3. After you’ve arranged the links, save the menu. Visit your front page and hover over the categories link to make sure the drop down list works correctly.
